  3. Well, I got in the mood for a little hacking the other night...  
  4. Here are two little hacks for you Solarian II fans.
  5.  
  6. Hack #1  -  This hack allows you to practice levels 9-16 instead of levels
  7. 2-9.  After making this change, cmd-2 will practice level 9, etc.  You can't
  8. directly practice the lips (I didn't hack that far) but you can start at
  9. level 16 and play the lips after completing level 16 (not too hard).

  11. Hack #2  -  This hack fixes it so that you always have 3 more lives no
  12. matter how many times you die.  When you hit the lips, then things are
  13. normal again (I couldn't take all of the fun out of it).

  15. Make a copy of the game (don't do this stuff to your original).  Use the
  16. copy only for practice (what good is a high score after having unlimited
  17. lives).  Use ResEdit to install either or both of the hacks.

  19. Hack #1 - Code resource ID = 3
  20.    Change the byte at offset 5E1F from D0 to D7.  Here is some context:

  24. HACK #2 - Code resource ID = 4
  25.    Change the byte at offset 5CC8 from 53 to 10.  Here is some context:
